drip. drip. drop: painting

Painting
Usually it starts like this:

I love my youngest son's face in this shot. ha!

and ends up like this:

Or it starts like this:

and ends up beautiful, like this:
wet on wet watercolor paintings

This day, it started like this, with little water drops from a dropper:

and this boy's idea to use water color instead of plain water

on paper
switching colors
into and onto the painting

Reminded us of this Mother of Thousands plant. She produces delicate little drops, hanging off of her leaves, which in turn turn into plants themselves. Art is amazing. Nature is amazing. I love our Creator.

This particular day ended with this:
violet leaves from the yard

violet lemon water

Dreaming of sleep

"...because I'm not  sleepy and I need to wear my rain coat while I eat, that's why."

"I want to sleep by myself. ALL by myself."

"NO, I do not want you to wash my face. I'm not sleepy."

Cocked and loaded, just in case.

"I'm just going to sit here for a second (sec*on)...and I need wrapped" She calls all covers or blankets "wraps".

"I'm 6. People that are 6 do NOT take naps, Mama!"

Feast of Days. New day.

My boys are studying Native American culture this year. Cherokee Feast of Days: "An invitation to come sit down for the Feast of Days that begins new every morning. When the sun breaks through the far side of the woods and sprays gold beneath ancient oaks, it is time to turn over a new leaf and celebrate a new beginning. The Cherokee way is to know the past is gone. Though a thread still links us to it in many ways, it no longer holds us captive, no longer keeps our feet on the Trail of Tears. We have new wisdom and understanding, and we dare to put down yesterday to reach for a new day. We study to be quiet, take care of business, work with our hands and rejoice in our spirits. The best is yet to come." Nice, eh?

"A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember." ~inspired by Soulemama
