Ronda at LOVE IS KIND visited a few weeks ago and helped us do an art project-Mosaics. This was a typical learning experience for us all. First, don't taste the batter...

Don't use self-rising flour and make sure you mix it well...

Other than that, it is an easy project for any age (except if your little one wants to eat the beans instead of decorate with them-smile!) and the end result is beautiful and can be hung on the wall after completed for a beautiful show piece.

The recipe goes like this:

1/3 cup flour
1/3 cup salt
1/3 cup water
foam plate
assorted dried beans

Mix and knead all of the ingredients except the beans. Smooth and roll "clay" into a ball and flatten onto the foam plate. Then decorate with black beans, red beans, lentils, dried peas or whatever else you can think of. Make a design or let the little artist just do an abstract of whatever his little heart desires.

Then let dry for a few days.

Don't forget to take a little pin or tooth pick and make a hole near the top if you plan on displaying it on the wall. If any beans pop out, just use some glue to replace them while it continues to dry for a few days.
